Trains are tough, planes are for sissies

The more I think about it the more I think it’s true. Planes have all these wimpy cop outs and trains toughen you up. Things I mention aren’t always the rule, and there are some exceptions. And sometimes you have to take a place, like flying from Canada overseas.

Train: carry own luggage everywhere you go. Plane: check it when you get to the airport and don’t see it until you arrive.

Train: the weight of your luggage is determined by what you can carry. Plane: weight restrictions.

Train: more environmentally friendly way to travel. Plane: to do this you would need to buy carbon offsets.

Train: leave on time, sometimes within two minutes of arriving, and they don’t wait for anyone. Plane: need to page people several times before to make sure they have everyone.

Train: you have to make your connections really fast, in 4 minutes or less sometimes. Plane: hours needed to make connections and get through security.

Train: you can just arrive a few minutes before and then leave. Plane: you have to arrive, check in, wait hours, load, sit on plane, wait more, etc.

Train: bring almost anything you want. Plane: very tight security.

Train: you only have a seat if you have a reservation, which you pay extra for. Plane: always have a seat booked in advanced

Train: you get to see the cities in between and the countryside. Plane: you only see from the air and only if no clouds.

Train: the station is located in city centre and is easy to get to and from. Plane: airports are located far from city centre and cost a lot to travel to and from

Train: can go at very high speeds (TGV, ICE) and go almost 300 km per hour or more. Plane: okay, they go faster, but they need to leave ground to do it

Train: travelling and moving more people. Plane: way less people on board.

Take that
